Jury Commissioners are responsible for selecting prospective jurors for each scheduled term of County Court. Jurors are selected by the drawing of names of eligible adults from an enclosed Jury wheel. The number of names drawn for each term of Court is set by Court Order from the Judge.

To be eligible for Jury duty the individual must be a U.S. Citizen, 18 years of age and reside in Juniata County. The names are taken from the per capita tax rolls. They do not need to be registered to vote.

Following selection, the prospective jurors are notified by mail and must appear at the next scheduled session of County Court.

The Jury Commissioners represent each of the two major political parties. Jury Commissioners are elected for four-year terms with the next election to take place in 2009.
